Early adopters of WellSky Extract have experienced a significant reduction in patient medication documentation time compared to the industry average
OVERLAND PARK, Kan.: WellSky, a global health and community care technology and services company, today announced the availability of WellSky Extract for Home Health, a powerful new tool that uses Artificial Intelligence to extract key information from patient-related documents and pictures of drug labels to populate data into the electronic health record (EHR), reducing manual documentation time, helping to ensure medication information is transferred accurately, and improving the patient and clinician experience.
On average, home health patients take 13 medications, and the average time to manually input the required information about a single medication is 1.5 minutes. This means that for the average patient, the full medication reconciliation process takes nearly 20 minutes. In comparison, early adopters of WellSky Extract are completing the medication reconciliation process for a single patient in 8 minutes on average – a 60% time savings compared to the industry average.

Utilizing Google’s Vertex AI platform and Gemini models, the WellSky Extract tool reduces the need for clinicians to manually gather and enter medication information into the patient record. This results in significant time savings and allows clinicians to focus more time on patients. WellSky Extract is the first of many AI-powered SkySense tools designed to increase operational and clinician efficiencies.
