Will contribute to safer driving and accident reduction

TOKYO: NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), which operates under the enterprise business brand “docomo business” within the DOCOMO group, announced today that its Thai group company Mobile Innovation Co., Ltd. (MI) will begin selling the LINKEETH web-enabled dashcam service in Thailand from today.

Thailand ranks 9th globally in traffic accident fatalities per 100,000 people.* In addition to the numerous lives lost, many accidents result in severe injuries, which place a significant burden on society, including economic losses and rising healthcare costs. Drunk driving and speeding are two of the most common causes of traffic accidents. While efforts to address these issues—such as stricter laws and enforcement, improvements in traffic infrastructure, and traffic safety education—are ongoing, further progress is necessary.

The LINKEETH service manages vehicle operations using location information and diagnoses safe driving by analyzing driving data. Through the provision of this service, the two companies aim to contribute to safer driving and help reduce the number of traffic accidents in Thailand.

Key features

1.

Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Driver Monitoring System (DMS)

These systems leverage AI to monitor driving conditions using in-vehicle camera footage. By detecting risky driving behaviors and alerting the driver, these systems help to prevent accidents. In addition to enhancing safety, they also help to deter distracted or aggressive driving. ADAS is designed to improve driver safety and comfort by using various sensors to assess the vehicle’s surroundings. It provides timely alerts and warnings to the driver and, when necessary, assists with vehicle control. The new service analyzes dashcam video footage and warns the driver if they are too close to the vehicle in front or if they drift outside lane markings. DMS, on the other hand, monitors the driver’s condition through cameras mounted in the interior of the vehicle, helping prevent aggressive or dangerous driving and reducing the risk of accidents.

2.

Visualization of driving conditions

Data such as rates of acceleration, braking, steering, and speed are analyzed and used to provide a visual record of the driver’s habits. Diagnostic results are provided in a report format, allowing fleet managers to easily provide safe driving guidance.

3.

Accident detection and automatic video transmission

When dangerous driving or an accident is detected, video data is automatically sent to the cloud, with notifications emailed to registered recipients. Real-time and past footage can also be viewed remotely at any time, ensuring access to video evidence in the event of an incident.

4.

Vehicle Location Management

Vehicle location information is displayed on a map in real-time. Multiple vehicles can be centrally monitored, helping to improve delivery efficiency and prevent theft. Driving history for each vehicle is available for up to one year.

5.

Spatiotemporal Searching

When a date, time and area are specified, all vehicles within that range are displayed on a map. This allows relevant vehicles to be located and viewed in emergency situations, helping to improve customer service and operational efficiency.

NTT Com and MI plan to extend provision of the service to Indonesia as they look to expand their global reach. They will analyze the needs of further countries in due course. In addition, Sumitomo Mitsui Auto Leasing & Service (Thailand) Co., Ltd., an auto leasing company, is planning to use the service to provide a new auto leasing service there, thereby becoming the two companies’ first partner.
