HONOLULU: #ESG--Sony Electronics Inc.; ERI – the nation’s leading recycler of electronics and cybersecurity-focused hardware destruction company; and T&N – Hawaii’s leading e-waste collection company – are joining forces the first weekend in January to provide Hawaii residents with a convenient and free way to responsibly recycle unwanted consumer electronics. The free collection event will take place at Waikiki Elementary School’s ‘Going Green Day’ in Honolulu.

Residents will be able to drop off unwanted electronic items 9 – 11 am on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Waikiki Elementary School, 3710 Leahi Ave., Honolulu, HI 96815.

To encourage consumers to participate in this recycling event, one-day free admission tickets for two to the Sony Open in Hawaii charity golf tournament valid during any day from Jan. 8-12 (Jan. 6-7 offers free admission for all) will be available to the first 100 participants donating acceptable electronic items (see below). Participants who bring e-waste for recycling will also receive a coupon for $25 off their next Sony purchase of $100 or more. (Limit one coupon per car. See the proposed terms and conditions below which should be a footnote to this offer).

This recycling event is just one of many sustainability initiatives incorporated into the 2025 event, which is the 27th year Sony has sponsored the popular PGA tournament.

“Through this event, we are taking an active step in helping our community recycle certain electronics products," said Joyce Kwan, Environmental Stewardship Manager at Sony Electronics Inc. “As part of our global environmental plan, Road to Zero, Sony is dedicated to working with certified recyclers where it supports the collection of electronic materials.”

By recycling old electronic products responsibly, materials from the discarded devices can be repurposed or reused to manufacture new products.

“It is an honor to support an event that benefits the good people of Hawaii,” said John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of ERI. “The work we will be doing on January 4th will prevent unwanted electronics from ending up in landfills, while providing a convenient way for people to de-clutter after the holidays! Sony has always been an impactful leader when it comes to sustainability issues, and this event is a great example of that. We are proud to be partnering with them yet again.”

Acceptable electronics items for the free recycling event:

TVs, computers, printers, scanners, monitors, large toner cartridges, laptops, game consoles and accessories, cameras, cell phones, DVD players, speakers and headphones, cables and cords.

Unacceptable items:

Smart boards, microwaves, fans, vacuums, blenders, large printers or copiers.

The $25 coupons, while supplies last, are valid until Feb. 28 for US only and redeemable only on electronics.sony.com and subject to the Terms & Conditions.

Limit one coupon per car. Coupon does not apply to previous purchases, applicable taxes, nor shipping and handling. Return of the qualifying product will require equal forfeiture of offer or amount equal to offer. Not redeemable for cash or cash equivalent. Offer is not transferable. Sony reserves the right to modify or terminate this promotion at any time.

The promotion and Sony Open ticket use is open only to persons who are legal residents of the USA and DC, 18+ (19+ in AL and NE) years of age. Ineligible are officers, directors, and employees (and members of their household and of their immediate families, i.e., parents, children, stepchildren, spouse, siblings, "step" of each and persons residing in the same household of such immediate family members) of Sony, its subsidiaries, affiliates, sales representatives, distributors, advertising/web design agencies and/or their affiliates, assigns or representatives; (hereinafter referred to collectively as "Sony & Others”) and all other persons or entities associated with the development, administration, execution of, or supply to this promotion.
