LAS VEGAS: Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, has unveiled five new short-range modules at CES in Las Vegas, USA. Designed to give developers and designers the broad range of options as they create innovative devices and applications for the market, the modules include the FGM840R standalone Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Combo module, the high-power Wi-Fi HaLow FGH100M-H, the Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 FCS962N-LP, the Wi-Fi7 and Bluetooth 5.4 FME170Q-865, and finally the Wi-Fi6 and Bluetooth 5.3 FCU865R. In addition, the previously launched FCS866R module has been enhanced through the incorporation of LE Audio and Auracast functionality. With these latest additions, Quectel continues to expand its portfolio, empowering developers to deliver innovative solutions across a wide range of IoT applications.

The Quectel FGM840R is a standalone Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo module that features a built-in Cortex M33 and M23 dual-core processor with the main core frequency up to 200MHz. The module supports Wi-Fi4 and BLE 5.0, offering 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual bands and built-in memory of 512KB RAM and 4MB Flash. Compliant with the WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK and WPA3-SAE security standards, the Quectel FGM840R supports security features such as TrustZone, Secure Boot at Flash encryption.

Measuring 12.5mm x 13.2mm x 2.05mm, the Quectel FGM840R supports up to 20 GPIO interfaces which can be multiplexed as UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, PWM, SDIO and USB functions. This provides great flexibility and versatility so the module can be utilized in a wide range of use cases, in particular for smart home and industrial IoT scenarios. In addition to Wi-Fi and BLE connectivity, the FGM840R, when paired with a USB Ethernet controller, can also support an RJ45 interface.

The Quectel FGH100M-H is a high-power variant of the previously announced Quectel FGH100M Wi-Fi HaLow module. The Quectel FGH100M-H operates in the 902-928MHz frequency band with a channel width of 1,2,4 or 8MHz. The module’s maximum physical data rate is 32.5Mbps and maximum transmit power is 27dBm.

Based on the Sub-1GHz frequency band, the module offers greater coverage and penetration and can extend the reach of smart home or smart city networks so users can control IoT devices within a radius of 1km. The Quectel FGH100M-H’s ultra-compact package size of 13.0mm x 13.0mm x 2.2mm helps designers and developers optimize the end product size and design cost.

The Quectel FCS962N-LP is a Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 module that supports both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands with integrated dual-mode Bluetooth and support for LE audio and BLE long range. The Quectel FCS962N-LP is designed for IoT applications to improve network efficiency, expand IoT applications, and save energy. The module is particularly suitable for low-speed transmission scenarios to meet the different needs of IoT and IIoT applications, such as network cameras, video doorbells, smart homes, smart glasses, smart locks, smart speakers, smart lighting and home appliances.

Measuring 12.0mm x 12.0mm x 1.55mm, the Quectel FCS962N-LP offers a low profile and features SMT, making the module well-suited to size-sensitive and rugged use cases. In addition, the module’s wide operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C broadens its applicability. In terms of connectivity, the module offers a maximum physical rate on 802.11ax of 143.4Mbps.

The Quectel FME170Q-865 is a Wi-Fi7 and Bluetooth 5.4 module that supports simultaneous operation on 2.4GHz plus 5 GHz, 2.4GHz plus 6GHz, and 5GHz and 6GHz Wi-Fi bands. With 4K-QAM and 320MHz bandwidth, the module offers a maximum data rate of 5.8Gbps, supporting ultra-low latency for real-time response. Featuring support for multi-link operation (MLO), the FME170Q-865 delivers faster data rates, much lower latency and higher network reliability to users.

The Quectel FME170Q-865 also integrates dual-mode Bluetooth and supports Low Energy (LE) audio in addition to 2Mbps Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) and BLE Long Range. With dimensions of 22.0mm x 30.0mm x 2.20mm and an operating temperature range of -10 °C to +65 °C, the Quectel FME170Q-865 is ideal for use cases such as laptops.

The Quectel FCU865R is a USB interface Wi-Fi6 and Bluetooth 5.3 module that supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands and 1T1R mode. The module can support transmission rates of up to 600Mbps using the IEEE 802.11ax MCS 11 rate at an 80MHz channel. In addition, the module supports LE audio and Auracast.

With dimensions of 15.0mm x 13.0mm x 2.0mm, the Quectel FCU865R features surface mount technology (SMT) that makes it ideal for durable and rugged designs. The module operates in a temperature range of -20 °C to +70 °C and weighs just 0.82g providing design flexibility for developers.

The previously announced Quectel FCS866R has been updated with the addition of LE audio and Auracast. This Wi-Fi6 and Bluetooth 5.2 module offers an ultra-compact size of just 15.0mm x 13.0mm x 2.0mm and maximum data rate of up to 1201Mbps. The Quectel FCS866R features SMT, making it ideal for durable and rugged designs that can also benefit from its compact size and low power consumption.
