Empowering Clinicians to Extend Their Impact and Earn Through Innovation

PALO ALTO, Calif.: #GenAI--Hippocratic AI, the company that pioneered the first healthcare LLM for patient-facing non-diagnostic clinical tasks, today announced the launch of its Healthcare AI Agent App Store. Marking a bold step forward in healthcare innovation, the AI Agent App Store empowers clinicians to design and shape artificial intelligence (AI) agents that address the pressing challenges of patient care and operational efficiency. Creating an agent can take less than 30 minutes and is followed by safety testing by the creator and Hippocratic AI staff. Clinician creators then share in the revenue that their agents generate when used by Hippocratic’s customers.

One of the key insights that led Hippocratic AI to create the AI Agent App Store was the understanding that clinicians, over the course of their careers, develop deep clinical expertise as well as practical insights around specific patient conditions and clinical workflows. Incorporating this experiential wisdom would make our AI agents safer, more empathetic and result in better patient outcomes.

“Since the founding of Hippocratic AI, we have believed that the best way to build safe and effective AI is through close collaboration with those delivering care. Until now, this collaboration has primarily been with health systems and payors. Today, with the launch of our AI Agent App Store, we are also directly engaging licensed US clinicians to harness the power of AI. We truly believe that clinicians know best,” said Munjal Shah, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hippocratic AI.

Traditionally, engineers spent months developing healthcare solutions for clinicians, often missing the mark on practical needs. The Hippocratic AI Agent App Store seeks to turn this paradigm on its head, giving healthcare professionals a direct role in crafting AI solutions that meet their needs and doing so in a short period of time.

The process for AI Agent creators is easy and efficient and requires no software programming knowledge. It takes clinicians less than 30 minutes to create a prototype and a few hours to obtain a version that can be safety tested. After Hippocratic has certified the agent and it is used by a Hippocratic customer, the clinician creator will receive 5% of the base fees plus 70% of any premium rate set by the creator. Every clinician will have access to a dashboard to track their AI agent’s performance and use and receive feedback for further development.

Ensuring Safety

We follow a three-step phased approach to ensure the highest safety standards with these clinician-generated AI agents:

  • Licensure Verification: Only licensed clinicians are permitted to participate in the program. All licensure information is verified before the creation of any AI agent.
  • Agent Development and Testing: Clinicians will build and test their agents before submitting them for publication. HAI staff will also perform an initial round of testing.
  • Validation and Certification: Before being implemented in patient care, the agent undergoes further evaluations and safety assessments by our extensive network of clinicians—over 6000 nurses and 300 doctors. Once the agent passes all safety tests, it is officially certified and ready for deployment.
  • “Partnering with clinicians is at the heart of creating stronger, safer generative AI solutions for healthcare,” said Amy McCarthy, DNP, RNC-MNN, NE-BC, CENP, Chief Nursing Officer of Hippocratic AI. “By embracing a co-design approach, we empower clinicians to craft solutions that directly respond to the needs of patients and caregivers. At the same time, we ensure every agent is rigorously tested for safety, underscoring our unwavering commitment to safe, compassionate, and responsible innovation.”

    Building a Community of Innovators

Our founding clinician creators have made over 300 AI agents in just a few weeks, focused on over 25 specialties. Some of our founding contributors include:

Dr. Vanessa Dorismond MD, MA, MAS is a distinguished Obstetrician and Gynecologist at El Camino Women’s Medical Group and Teal Health. She completed her residency at Howard University Hospital and pursued fellowships in Advanced Pelvic Surgery at Emory University and Women’s Health Research at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Dorismond has published extensively on cervical cancer screening and disparities in gynecologic oncology and has presented her work at leading conferences, including The American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL). Her initial AI agent focus is on cervical cancer check-ins, enhancing patient education and follow-up care to improve outcomes and reduce disparities. Initial AI Agent Focus: Cervical Cancer Check-Ins

Kacie Spencer, DNP, RN, is the Chief Nursing Officer for Adtalem Elevate, bringing over 20 years of experience in emergency nursing and clinical education. Prior to her current role, she spent over a decade at Chamberlain University as a nurse educator and higher education leader. Her career also includes roles at Ascension Providence Hospital (formerly Providence Healthcare Network), Central Texas Urgent Care, and George Washington University Hospital. She earned her master’s degree in nursing at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and her Doctor of Nursing Practice at George Washington University. As an emergency room nurse, Dr. Spencer frequently encountered cases of improperly installed or fitted car seats due to caregivers' limited awareness about proper installation and usage. This inspired her to develop a tool to support caregivers in navigating these challenges. Her initial AI agent focus is on patient education for proper car seat installation. Initial AI Agent Focus: Patient Education for Proper Car Seat Installation.

Kristina Dulaney, RN, PMH-C, is a maternal mental health expert and the Founder of Cherished Mom, an organization dedicated to training healthcare teams to recognize and address maternal mental health challenges. She has also served as a Maternal Mental Health Hotline Counselor for Postpartum Support International and co-founded the Appalachian Perinatal Mental Health Alliance. Her leadership in the field includes her appointment to the National Maternal Mental Health (MMH) Task Force. Based on her extensive experience, Kristina's AI agent focuses on postpartum and maternal mental health, providing innovative support for new mothers navigating these critical challenges. Initial AI Agent Focus: Postpartum Mental Health Check-In, Postpartum Depression Screening

Alyssa Stacy, RN, BSN, is a wound care nurse with over six years of clinical experience and currently practices at an outpatient clinic within the Franciscan Health Network. She specializes in assisting patients with dressing changes, managing wound vacs, and providing ostomy education to enhance compliance and prevent wound progression or infections. Alyssa holds a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. Her initial AI agent focus includes pre- and post-wound care clinic visit check-ins, pre- and post-ostomy surgery check-ins, and pressure ulcer prevention education. Initial AI Agent Focus: Pre and Post Wound Care Clinic Visit Check-Ins, Pre and Post Ostomy Surgery Check-Ins, Pressure Ulcer Prevention Assessment Education

Shawna Butler, BSN, MBA, RN is a seasoned nurse with 30 years of expertise spanning emergency, cardiac, oncology, organ transplant, critical care, and medical evacuation. Shawna earned her BSN from Catholic University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina. Her initial AI agent focus addresses extreme heat planning and support. Initial AI Agent Focus: Extreme Heat Wave Preparation

Lynne Hinnekamp, BSN, RN, brings over 30 years of diverse nursing experience, including case management, pre-op, PACU, telephonic triage, and occupational health nursing. At Humana Inc., she worked as a nurse navigator, helping patients navigate the healthcare system and establish home resources, and later assisted in creating a cancer disease management program for patients and families. Lynne earned her BSN from Mary-Hardin Baylor University. Her initial AI agent focus is on home health check-ins, and support calls for individuals coping with the loss of a family member. Initial AI Agent Focus: Home Health Check-In & Support Call for Loss of a Family Member

Lisa Armstrong, BSN, RN, is a bilingual registered nurse with decades of experience in emergency and critical care nursing, as well as serving as a house supervisor in a critical access hospital in Kansas. During her time as an emergency room nurse and supervisor, she identified patterns in diagnoses—such as abdominal pain, urinary tract infections, and headaches—that frequently resulted in ER readmissions. Drawing on this insight, Lisa's initial AI agent focus is on post-discharge follow-up calls for these conditions, aiming to reduce readmissions and improve patient outcomes through timely intervention and support. Initial AI Agent Focus: Post Discharge Calls for UTI, Headaches and Abdominal Pain Follow-Up

Karen Cox, PhD, RN, FACHE, FAAN, serves as the president of Chamberlain University, an Adtalem institution, where she leads more than 38,000 students across 23 campuses and online programs. After serving many years as a practicing registered nurse, Cox held numerous leadership roles at Children’s Mercy Kansas, most recently as the chief operating officer, before joining Adtalem. Committed to bridging the gap in healthcare, Cox has been at the forefront of increasing equity across healthcare education, directly addressing the barriers underrepresented groups face in attaining quality education through the Social Determinants of Learning™ framework, which she co-authored. She also advocates for implementing the social determinants of health across the industry, a framework taught across all Adtalem institutions. She earned her PhD and master's degree in nursing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing. Leveraging her expertise in social determinants of health, her initial AI agent focus is on diabetes psychosocial screening and education, addressing patients' medical and emotional needs.
